EU Funding Opportunities for Training and Staff Development

Now is a good time to start planning for 2013 EU funding opportunities for training and staff development. The Leonardo Programme is part of the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) and is designed to support vocational education and training through funding projects which improve the quality of training and development of skills of learners and staff.

You can apply for a Leonardo Mobility project in order to fund European work placements for trainees, workers and staff. In a climate of rising unemployment, inflation and economic instability, Leonardo Mobility projects are a good way to add value to the training you provide or add a European dimension to participants' CVs. The Leonardo Mobility programme is a good opportunity, at little or no cost to your organisation, for your participants to gain experience of living and working in another European country, improving their professional development as well as their soft skills and intercultural skills.

Leonardo Partnerships provide you with an opportunity to work with partners from across Europe to share good practice, discuss problems and compare solutions on a particular topic linked to VET. The funding provided allows partners to meet, find out about each other’s organisations and working practices, share expertise and build strong European networks.

Both Mobility and Partnerships can also hugely benefit your trainees, trainers, and your organisation by developing partnerships with other European organisations, and acquiring new knowledge of European practices not available in the UK.
